Many of the classic monuments on the acropolis are being reconstructed to better preserve them. In some cases, this means COMPLETELY DISMANTLING and reassembling them piece by piece. Downsisde (obviously): there are construction vehicles and workers all over the place, getting in the way of the perfect photos tourists fly from around the world to take. Upside: all of the disassembled pieces are stacked casually in piles all over the place, and you probably get a closer view of some than you ever would otherwise.
As the South African lady next to me put it: “This must be a Lego person’s absolute dream.”
